One of my key goals for the 2025–2026 fiscal year was to develop a new membership model that would make TEI membership more accessible and cost-effective for organizations with multiple in-house tax professionals. I am pleased to announce that the TEI Board of Directors recently approved a new group pricing structure that will take effect in the 2026–2027 fiscal year.

This new structure is designed to strengthen TEI’s relationships with member companies, expand access to professional development opportunities for tax professionals at all career stages, and support the long-term growth and stability of our membership base.

The group pricing structure encourages organizations to enroll their broader tax departments in TEI, creating deeper engagement across teams and strengthening long-term member retention. For participating companies and members, the program delivers meaningful cost savings while expanding access to TEI’s educational resources, networking opportunities, and professional community. Importantly, this structure also enables organizations to extend membership benefits to professionals who may not otherwise have access to formal professional development opportunities.

From TEI’s perspective, the new structure supports more predictable membership growth, stronger renewal rates, and a more streamlined administrative process for enrollment and renewals.

Proposed Pricing Structure—Calendar Year 2026

Group pricing categories are based on the number of tax professionals in a company’s tax department, rather than the number of individuals seeking membership. The pricing analysis below is based on current individual annual dues of $325 and will be adjusted for inflation in future years.

Membership Term and Administration

Under the group membership structure, all individuals within a company’s group membership will share the same membership start and expiration date. Each organization will designate one primary contact responsible for membership administration and annual renewals. Key administrative guidelines include:

  • Group memberships will run for a full twelve-month period beginning on the payment date and will be available for purchase throughout the year;
  • Membership activation will follow this schedule:
    • payments received between the first and fifteenth of the month will begin that same month; and
    • payments received after the fifteenth of the month will begin the following month.
  • Organizations transitioning to a group membership will receive prorated credit for employees with existing individual memberships. Credit will be applied toward the group membership fee; refunds will not be issued; and
  • All members within a group will follow the same renewal cycle. For example, if a company’s membership term runs from April 1 through March 31, any employee added during the year will share the same March 31 expiration date.

Transfers Between Organizations

When a member leaves one employer and joins another organization, membership will generally follow one of the scenarios below:

Please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas, feedback, and suggestions as we continue working to strengthen TEI and better serve our members. Together, we will build on TEI’s proud tradition of excellence in education, networking, and advocacy.
