On March 14, TEI launched its inaugural Tax Leadership Academy (TLA) at its offices in Washington, D.C. The TLA is a new educational opportunity developed to elevate leadership capabilities for in-house tax professionals. Topics to be covered include cornerstones of tax leadership, negotiation and influence, leading through change, and adaptability in communications, and will culminate in a capstone business case.
Fifteen in-house tax professionals were admitted to the initial TLA cohort, which launched at TEI’s 75th Midyear Conference and will continue virtually until the in-person conclusion at this fall’s Annual Conference. Each TLA participant was invited to participate in a variety of leadership-related sessions and activities at the Midyear Conference, including a special chief tax officer lunch featuring former IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig and former Counselor to the IRS Commissioner and acting IRS Chief of Staff Tom Cullinan. TLA participants were also paired with experienced TEI leader mentors for the duration of the program.
